Govt promotes 44 WRD officers on regular basis

PANJIM: In a major development, the Water Resources Department (WRD) has got relief from nearly four-decade-old ad-hoc culture with nearly 44 officers being promoted on regular basis. 

The State government in consultation with Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) has given necessary relaxation to fill various posts on promotions on regular basis. The decision was taken on Friday. 

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant informed that for upto 38 long years, majority of the staff and officials of WRD were being promoted on ad-hoc basis citing shortfall of Recruitment Rules. 

Dr Sawant said that total 15 junior engineers have been promoted as assistant engineers and another 12 proms are promoted as Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC). 

Three vacant posts of superintendent engineers is filled by promotions, while two gazetted posts of soil survey in charge and water management specialist are filled by promotion. 

Promotions of chief engineer and two additional chief engineers also filled on regular basis. 

Similarly, 10 posts of executive engineers will be filled on similar lines.
