PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa on Friday said that the ‘Goans against Corona’ campaign has started showing success with the announcement made by health minister that patients in home isolation would be getting a kit containing a thermometer, oximeter, masks and vitamins.
AAP has also criticized Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s statement and said he should fight Corona and not the Goans.
“It’s incredible to see the entire politician class of Goa being rattled by Goans against Corona. Their biggest fear is that people will rise up and take action on their own to save their lives. They see through the chaos and mismanagement in the times of corona,” AAP said reacting to CM and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane’s statements earlier in the day.
AAP added that ministers have been involved in corruption while people have been dying. “The Chief Minister and the health minister should fight against corona and not against Goans”.
AAP also welcomed the decision to distribute free kits as it was the party’s demand since the time Goa had emulated Delhi in resorting to Home isolation.
AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes said that the party had been time and again objecting to the government’s SOP for home isolation of patients that had placed the responsibility to procure the basic items on the patients themselves.
He said that the campaign was necessitated as the government after consistently maintaining that there was no room for worry ( ‘bivpachi garaz na’) and had thereby abdicated its responsibilities of handling the growing number of cases that had also shot up the death rate.
Goans against Corona campaign head Rahul Mahambre ridiculed the health minister over his remark that the “storm is over”.
Earlier, the Health Minister in a veiled reference to AAP had said “after the storm is over, somebody comes to you and tells you, we will help you”.
