MARGAO: Stating that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had, in November last year, promised Goan youth that all government recruitments shall be done through staff selection commission, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao expressed anger that there was no mention about the recruitment process in the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.
“It is loud and clear that the government wants to continue with their corrupt practices and sell these jobs,” alleged Alemao. The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) in its latest report has stated that the unemployment rate in January 2023 is 16 percent, which is double the national average. He said that the information provided to him in the reply to his Legislative Assembly question said that 21,780 youths registered for the much-hyped job fair held on November 8 and 9 last year. Ironically, only 576 youths were provided with job opportunities in the private sector. “The government has not maintained any data pertaining to age, qualification, salary paid, date of joining, current status and whether the person recruited has continued in service or removed by the employer, he pointed out.
