Govt releases Rs 1.9 cr to 300 flood relief prog beneficiaries

Ex-gratia relief to COVID-19 victims’ families will be disbursed from Monday

PANJIM: The State government on Thursday released over Rs 1.09 crore to nearly 300 beneficiaries of the government’s flood relief programme while the ex-gratia relief to the families of COVID-19 victims will be disbursed from Monday.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that the government has started disbursing the compensation to the flood-affected people. As regards to the ex-gratia relief to the families of COVID-19 victims, about 200 forms which are completed will receive the relief by Monday, he said adding that necessary measures will be taken to fast track the process so as to ease access for people. 

To a question, Sawant assured to look into the difficulties faced by some flood-affected people mostly tenants finding difficult to submit the required property documents.    

The Chief Minister further said that the government has simplified the procedure to apply for the scheme COVID-19 relief to marginalised/unorganised sector. 

Approximately 50,000 people are involved more than 60 types of traditional businesses and occupations and they will be given ex-gratia one-time financial assistance of Rs 5,000 each.

Sawant said that the traditional occupation applicant can now submit self-attested form instead of an affidavit while the powers to testify has been given to any Gazetted Officer instead of panchayat secretaries. Also the applicants can be submitted to the taluka level officers of the Social Welfare Department.
