PANJIM: High Court has restrained the government from further pursuing any action in the alleged illegal land conversion at Tiracol and maintained status quo until further orders.
The bench comprising of Justices SC Gupte and Nutan Sardessai observed that the counsel for the PIL petitioner has produced before the bench an order passed by the District Collector, North Goa November 5, 2018 which holds that in view of the decision of the Deputy Collector, suspension of the conversion sanad issued stands withdrawn with immediate effect and that the sanad issued on March 3, 2013 stands valid with immediate effect as per the decision of the Deputy Collector.
Since it was the last day of the bench, the HC observed that it is unable to hear the matter any further and that has created a rather peculiar situation. Therefore the HC directed the State Government and its agencies not to act any further on the impugned order of the Deputy Collector dated September 4, 2017 until further orders.
