PANJIM: The government will issue the work orders to the consultants to prepare the detailed project reports (DPR) for the new Zuari and Khandepar bridges, which are expected to be ready within 3 months officials said.
Once the tenders are awarded, government officials say that the Zuari bridge is to be constructed within three-and-a-half years and the Khandepar bridge on NH 4-A in two-years.
The PWD had already issued tenders for appointment of consultants for the parallel Zuari Bridge and a bridge over River Khandepar. A joint venture company of PPF Group, Belgium, and Goa-based consultancy firm S N Bhobe and Associates was selected to provide the consultancy for construction of the new Zuari Bridge and S N Bhobe and Associates are to provide consultancy for the Khandepar bridge.
Just recently the Union minister for road transport and highways Oscar Fernandes had said that the Centre would make provision for the infrastructure projects.
The Zuari bridge proposal has been hanging in limbo for at least a decade.
