PANJIM: The Education Department has asked all headmasters or principals of government high schools and higher secondary schools to forward details such as school name, details of routes from which students come to school, number of students on each route attached to school, as it is going to provide transport to all students.
In a circular issued recently, the Director of Education Anil Powar says that the government has introduced a scheme for students of Government High Schools and higher secondaries to provide transport facilities to the children studying in government high schools or higher secondaries who reside in the interior.
According to the department, by introducing the scheme government seeks to increase accessibility of the children studying in government schools to better education facilities and arrest the drop-out rate among school going children and “enhance the reception capacity of quality education.”
All government high schools and higher secondary schools will be eligible for the scheme and it is to be operated through the Kadamba Transport Corporation for all school working days and the DoE will provide these facilities to 83 government high schools and higher secondary schools located in interior regions of Goa.
