MARGAO: Government of Goa should immediately withdraw the cases filed against the activists at the earliest, taking Supreme Court verdict into consideration, urged South Goa Member of Parliament Francisco Sardinha.

Addressing the media, he also appealed to the Minister for Panchayat and Directorate of Panchayat to give their orders pertaining to the alleged illegal structure at Old Goa heritage site.

Sardinha said he is ashamed of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for failing to understand what is good for the people.

“The government should keep in mind that the only aim of the agitation is in the interest of the State and not self-interest,” said Sardinha.

The MP said people are still agitating at the Old Goa demanding demolition of the illegal structure, and the government is not showing any seriousness in the matter.

“It is my request to the Minister for Panchayat and Directorate of Panchayat to announce their decision as early as possible, so that people will stop their agitation”, he urged.
