PANJIM: Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar said the State government is taking all the possible action against the controversial structure that has come up in a protected heritage area in Old Goa.
While speaking to media persons on Wednesday, Ajgaonkar tried to counter anti-government criticism over its handling of the entire project and said the government is for protecting the heritage of the State.
He added that the Town and Country Planning Minister (TCP) Minister Chandrakanat Kavlekar had already withdrawn the permissions to the structure and further directions had already been issued.
When asked if any action would be taken against the government officials involved in the fraud that took place, Ajgaonkar said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is already looking into this issue and had moved a file in this regard.
Ajgaonkar’s comments come against the backdrop of the Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy saying he was aware of the controversy surrounding the structure.
