PANJIM: The State government has decided to temporarily freeze allotment of land for new industrial investments till an Industrial Policy in line with the Union Government’s law is in place.
Industries Minister Vishwajit Rane has sought details from Industrial Development Corporation, about the availability of land with the government for allotment to the industries.
“Till the government gets proper data of the land available and formulates the policy for Industrial sector, no further allocation of land would be carried out. Details of land bank will be shared with Investment Promotion Board (IPB),” he said on the sidelines of inaugurating Goa Medical College’s nutritional food services on Thursday.
The Industrial Policy will be framed by engaging experts in the field as the minister added that industrial clusters would be formed in line with the Central policy. “We will go ahead with the forward thinking and proper vision. Industrial growth in Goa is a challenge. We will encourage setting up industries in the interiors that will generate employment avenues for the locals. These industries will also be offered additional benefits,” he said.
For setting up industries in Goa, Rane said the government will impose a condition that they should provide employment to locals and also regularise their jobs. He also said that in line with Maharashtra chief minister’s action, Goa will also set up war rooms comprising of IITians who will advise ministers on different policies.
“I already have a four-member war room to advise me on Health, Industries, Law and Women and Child Development portfolios that I hold,” he said.
