At a recent meeting in the Bicholim deputy collector’s office, Keri Sarpanch Jeevbarao Rane and others highlighted the situation at Chorla Ghat during rainy season and sought action against the hooligans.
“Every year, people visit this place to bathe in the roadside waterfalls and they create problems for traffic along the route. They drink alcohol and park their vehicles on the road, creating problems for locals as well. Besides, it also disturbs the wild animals in the area,” complained a local.
After discussing the matter, Deputy Collector Biju Naik instructed that there should be signboards and special dust bins installed in the ghat area. The RTO and police were asked to maintain check on the vehicles posing problem to the traffic.
It may be recalled that since last two years, the Chorla Ghat has become famous for tourists during the rainy season.
