PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has said that 180 yoga teachers will be appointed in 180 primary schools across the State on contract basis.
Speaking to reporters in Panjim, the chief minister said that in each taluka at least 15 schools are identified in which the yoga classes will be given.
He said that chosen schools have 30 or more students on enrolment.
“We will be giving only yoga classes. It is not related to any caste or religion. It is related to our country, history and culture,” the chief minister said.
He informed that most of the teachers will be appointed from the Patanjali Trust as they have a fair knowledge and good syllabus of yoga.
The chief minister said that all the teachers will be on contract basis and there will not be any objection on the institutions or schools that use ‘OM’ while teaching the classes.
Parsekar also said that the aided schools, which have enrolment above 250, will have a watchman on contract basis and he would be paid a monthly salary of Rs 9000.
A librarian will be also sanctioned to all such schools whose enrolment is above 250, he informed.
He informed that the watchmen should be at least standard VIII pass and the librarian with Std XII pass and certificate of librarian course.
“First preference will be given to a certificate holder and later with the essential qualification of Standard XII, as there won’t be 189 librarian certificate holders in Goa,” the chief minister said.
The chief minister said that the government would also consider adopting the para-teachers as librarians who were protesting for regularisation of their services.
