PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that his government will welcome any proposal to setup Private Sports University in the State post the 37th National Games and extend all requisite co-operation and support.
“Sports University should come to Goa. If anyone is willing I welcome them,” Sawant said after inspecting the venues for upcoming National Games starting from October 26.
Stating that many institutes are setting up private Universities in the State, Sawant said that establishing Private Sports University will provide opportunity to budding sportspersons to build their career in sports.
He said that degree, diploma and certificate courses for support staff etc in sports discipline are sought after and the Sports University can offer these.
Sawant further informed that many private institutes have approached the State government in this regards. “We have asked them to submit their detail proposals to the State government,” he added.
