Govt to conduct free eye camps across State from Feb

Aims to provide best eye care services to the people in need and prevent eye disorders at an early stage

PANJIM: With an aim of providing best eye care services to the people in need and prevent eye disorders at an early stage, the State Health Department will conduct free eye camps across the State from first week of February.

In a series of tweets, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane informed that following the instructions from Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, he held a meeting to discuss the modalities for organising free eye camps across the State. 

The meeting was attended by Health Director Dr Jose D’Sa, Dean of Goa Medical College and Hospital Dr Shivanand Bandekar and other health officials. 

“Our objective behind these camps is to provide best eye care services to the people in need and help prevent eye disorders at an early stage,” Rane said. 

The Minister said that the aim is to screen 200-300 people per session starting from first week of February and token system will be used to streamline the crowd. 

Rane said that free of cost screening with provision for providing free glasses and surgeries in case of requirements will be made. 

The health officials will be working in coordination with the officials of Directorate of Health Services to identify the individuals for screening. 

Rane said, “File will be put up to the Chief Minister for an approval.”
