PANJIM: The Goa government has sent a proposal to the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) for seeking concurrence in relaxation in experience for the promotion of nine Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySPs) to the position of Superintendent of Police (SP).
The requirement for promotion to SP is that the DySP should have completed five years of regular service, passed a departmental examination and undergone training for 45 days to be eligible to be promoted. The officers have undergone mandatory training at the Goa Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (GIPARD) recently and the requirement of departmental examination was exempted by the government with the approval of the Commission.
The officers under consideration are falling short of around two years of experience and the government had relaxed this requirement and sought the concurrence of the Commission. Once the Commission agrees to this relaxation a duly constituted Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) chaired by the GPSC Chairman and Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP) will meet to recommend the officials for promotion to the position of SP. When contacted, GPSC Chairman Jose Manuel Noronha confirmed receipt of the proposal and said that the Commission is examining it.
