Govt to hold 6-month fisheries training course

PANJIM: The Directorate of Fisheries has invited applications for a six-month-long Fisheries Training Course starting from September to February 2021-22, at Fisherman Training Centre, Ela Dhaugi, Old Goa.
In a statement issued by the Fisheries Department, the course is meant for training in fishing craft and gear, fundamentals of navigation and seamanship, maintenance and operation of marine diesel engine, weaving and mending of modern nets, seafood value addition and marketing, aquaculture and swimming. The candidates having passed minimum Class VIII and between 18 and 35 years of age are eligible for admission. Preference will be given to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe candidates as well as youth from the fishing community having experience at sea. The candidates admitted to the course will be paid stipend of Rs 1,000 per month and Rs 100 per day to the trainees as a Dearness Allowance during fishing trips.
 The students interested in seeking admission for the above course should apply to the Directorate of Fisheries. The application form can be downloaded from the Fisheries Department’s website.
