MARGAO:  Government policy on school buses will undergo a change this academic year.
Instead of providing buses to schools, the government has now decided to ask the school managements to hire the buses and foot the charges.
Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar on Thursday announced that the government has decided to change its policy on school buses in view of the demand made by the bus drivers and cleaners to absorb them in government service. “We have now decided that the government will pay the charges to managements to hire the buses. In the bargain, the driver and the cleaner can become owners of the buses within four to five years by paying the loan amount out of the hire charges paid by the school managements”, Parrikar added.
