PANJIM: In a bid to promote science studies among the students studying in the rural schools, the State government has notified a scheme to provide financial assistance to rural government and government aided high schools to assist them in upgrading their available science and related infrastructure/resources.
“The scheme aims to enable the institutions to avail and realize the benefit of the projects by Goa Information Technology Professionals (GITP) for promotion of IT education in rural institutions. It will be made available through the Department of Science, Technology & Environment wherein a committee will scrutinize and screen the applications of the schools,” an official said.
The committee will comprise of the Director of the department as its chairman, and five members who will meet and examine the proposals received under the scheme and make recommendation for grant of financial assistance under the scheme.
Meanwhile, in another notification, the government has constituted a Direct Benefit Transfer Cell for proper implementation of DBT framework across the schemes in the State. The Cell, consisting of 21 members, will be the real interface between the government and beneficiaries.
