Govt to shift its offices to Goa Housing Board and the BSNL buildings

PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said members in the Legislative Assembly that the government will soon shift its offices from the Spaces building at Patto to the Goa Housing Board and the BSNL buildings.

Dr Sawant said though members have been complaining about huge rent paid for offices situated in the Spaces building, the government has now decided to shift all its offices and will save rent of about Rs 1.50crore.  

Dr Sawant said that government is trying to bring transparency  in the general administration department (GAD). He said all the GAD quarters will be demolished and rebuilt. The government will pay Rs 14crore to the Mumbai municipal corporation for development of land at Washi, Mumbai where new Goa Bhavan will be built.

The Chief Minister warned that the firms and others evading taxes will be raided and the taxes will be recovered. He said that despite COVID-19 pandemic the excise department collected revenue of Rs 509.11crore during 2020-2021 as against 

Rs 587.69crore collected during 2019-2020  

Dr Sawant said that the ex-gratia of Rs two lakh to the families of COVI-19 victims and one-time financial assistance of Rs 5000 each to traditional occupants and unorganised sector who lost their livelihood due to pandemic will be disbursed on August 15.
