PANJIM: Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte said that administrators of the Comunidades across the State should ensure that the comunidade institutes should be self sustainable in the next four years. He informed the House on Thursday that grant-in-aid will be provided to these institutes for next four years in a particular pattern.
The minister was replying to the question raised by Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral over the forgery and irregularities in the ordinary budget of the Comunidade South zone. Cabral had also raised the issue that the staff employed in the institutions is not paid salaries.
While elaborating the issue of Comunidade institutions, Khaunte said that income which was rightfully to come to the comunidade is not being collected by the administrators. Because of illegalities the revenue is not generated in the comunidade and the commission which is constituted will look into the matter,” minister said.
“Administrators of comunidades should ensure that they become self sufficient. Out of 90 comunidades only 42 comunidades are working while 48 are not working in South zone, this is not only in South but also in North and central zone. This has been taken very casually, it is very serious matter and I assure the House that in next 4-6 months will set this right”, Minister said.
“We will examine the whole issue of the Comunidade and in next three to four months will streamline the entire issues. The circular for becoming self sufficient is already issued by the government in the year 2016,” Khaunte said.
Cabral brought to the notice that South zone Comunidade is not being collecting the rents of the properties.
The offices are given on the rent but there is need of full time administrators to generate the revenue, the minister replied. He said that right now additional charges are being held by the administrator of South zone comunidade. “CM has already started the process of streamlining administration and we will do it in next 4-6 months”, he said.
