The government has decided to waive off the loans under the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY).
The government has announced a scheme Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) for the slum dwellers and the urban poor in an effort to promote a slum-free India in five years.
“The State government has decided to waive off all loans taken by the Goans,” this was announced in the Assembly today by the Panchayat Minister Babu Azgaonkar.
He said the State had given loans of Rs 20,000 to the poor and it will be a great relief to them.
The scheme focuses on according property rights to slum dwellers and the urban poor by the States and union territories.
It provides basic amenities such as water supply, sewerage, drainage, internal and approach roads, street lighting and social infrastructure facilities in slums and low income settlements adopting a ‘whole city’ approach.
