It may be stated that the Sanquelim Congress Block Committee had given the government 48 hours to act against the doctor.
On Monday, when Congress workers and villagers went to the Sanquelim Primary Health Centre, they were shown a fax copy that ordered the transfer of the doctor.
Later, ex-MLA Pratap Gawas told the press that the delay in treating the victim, Sangeeta Naik, who met with an accident on January 16, had led to her death. “The accident had occurred just 100 mts away from the PHC. When she was taken to the hospital, the doctor only bandaged her and kept her waiting. It was only after two hours that she was taken to GMC, Bambolim, where she breathed her last.” Sangeeta’s sister, Tejashree Naik also expressed satisfaction over the transfer of the doctor.
