BICHOLIM: Warning that the government would not keep quiet if people oppose good projects in the State, Minister for Waste Management Michael Lobo has stated that Goans need to change their mentality toward development.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating shelter for stray cattle at Gomantak Gosevak Mahasangh at Shikeri Mayem. About 56 cattle from Calangute were handed over to the sangh on the occasion.
“What good is happening should happen for the goodness of Goa. We need to change the mentality of the people who oppose the projects without any reason,” Lobo emphasised.
He warned that the government would not keep quite if some people oppose developmental projects without any reason. “We have formed the government; we have added numbers only for stability. We will not keep quite if developmental projects are opposed. Let them cry foul we will still not stop,” Lobo asserted.
“If Goa has to be showcased at the international level, then, whatever projects we need should be brought in the State,” Lobo said giving the example of IIT project which, he said, was opposed by some and later was shifted to Sattari.
Lobo announced that he would provide Rs 50,000 every month to the sangh to take care of the cattle. “Stray cattle are a problem created by the people. The other problem is of stray dogs. These two are big problems and we are happy that one village is solving the problem of the other villages,” Lobo said.
Earlier, Narendra Tari of Gomantak Gosevak Mahasangh said that the sangh is facing several problems and the financial constraints in running cow shelter.
