PANJIM: Accusing Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant of dancing to the tunes of his BJP bosses in New Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre on Saturday alleged that by delaying the auctioning of the mining leases it appears that the State government is willing to sell Goa and Goans to the party leaders.
“It is now very clear that the Chief Minister is only dancing to the tunes of his party bosses sitting in New Delhi and is willing to sell out Goa and the Goans to the party leaders as can be seen over the delay in auctioning the mining leases,” alleged Mhambre.
He pointed out that the inordinate delay by the State government to auction the mining leases that expired in March 2020, nearly a year ago, has now resulted in the likelihood of the Centre taking over the auctioning of these leases.
Mhambre said, “If the Union government auctions the leases then Goa or the Goans will have no say absolutely and the leases will be given to BJP’s crony capitalist friends from New Delhi, who will rule the roost in the mining sector, which was till today managed by the Goans.”
“This is yet another instance when Dr Pramod Sawant has sold Goa to his party bosses in New Delhi as he had done earlier by selling River Mhadei to Karnataka or allowing the Major Port Act to be passed and even allowing Goa to be converted into a coal hub so that the capitalists can bring their coal from Australia to India through Goa,” he said.
Meanwhile, AAP asked Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to come out of announcement mode to think of the aged and persons with disabilities (PwD) in Goa who have not been receiving any dole for more than six months.
AAP’s Prasad Shahapurkar said, “The senior citizens and PwD from Goa have not received the dole since August 2020 and wondered how these people are managing in these pandemic times.”
