Govt’s pre-budget consultations begin today

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will hold meetings with Secretaries to government and heads of department (HoD) at the Secretariat, Porvorim from Monday morning, as part of pre-budget consultations. 

Sawant will hold meeting with Secretaries followed by briefing from each HoD on the vision for the year 2023 covering aspects of public centric administration, ease of doing business, Centrally sponsored schemes, use of technology to improve functioning of departments, status of Budget assurance/assurance in Assembly session, implementation of Right of Citizens to Time-bound Delivery of Public Services Act, etc.

Meanwhile, the meeting scheduled with both the Collectors, all Deputy Collectors and all taluka Mamlatdars which was scheduled at Altinho in the evening has been cancelled until further intimation.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Budget 2023-2024, the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Taxation Committee has submitted a detailed pre-budget memorandum on direct tax to the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, asking for various concessions and reliefs.

Around 50 suggestions and recommendations have been made to the memorandum signed by GCCI President Ralph De Sousa.

The memorandum covers 12 major heads consisting of macro level reforms, rationalisation of tax rates and threshold limits, addressing litigative and processing issues, real estate sector, etc.

 ease of doing business (EODB), interest, penalties, dividends, start-ups etc.
