MARGAO: Goyant Kollso Naka along with farmers’ groups held a protest at Margao Municipal Garden in solidarity with the farmers across India.
The gathering demanded the revocation of anti-peasant, anti-people, and pro corporate three farm laws. They demanded the repeal of Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce Promotion and Facilitation, Farmers Empowerment and Protection Agreement on Price Assurance, and Farm Services Act 2020 while further demanding that the Essential Commodities Amendment Act 2020 and Electricity Amendment Bill to be scrapped.
On behalf of the Goyant Kollso Naka Abhijit Prabhudessai said that the government should take the bills and amendments back.
“Remember over half of the Indians are dependent on farming and agriculture directly and these laws are against the farmers. Our principles and culture are from farming and we won’t let them get destroyed,” warned Prabhudessai.
“The State government also out to destroy farming since the Regional Plan and is allowing big projects of IIT, mega projects and others. There is no time left and youth have to come on the streets. Now all our leaders are out to destroy the State,” he said.
