GPCC adopts resolution to ban re-entry of deserters

PANJIM: In a major decision, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Saturday adopted a resolution to ban re-entry of all 13 former party MLAs, who deserted it and joined BJP. 
GPCC executive committee met under its President Girish Chodankar, wherein they adopted a resolution to identify new faces in all 13 assembly constituencies deserted by the MLAs.
Speaking to media person after meeting, Chodankar said that the committee has resolved to ban reentry of those who deserted the party. 
Chodankar said that a similar resolution has already been passed by North and South Goa district committees. “The resolution will be now forwarded to All India Congress committee,” he said. 
“We have also decided to look for new faces in all those 13 constituencies,” he added. 
Congress got major jolt in July, this year, when 10 MLAs- Kavlekar (Quepem), Jennifer Monserrate( Taleigao), Atanasio Monserrate(Panjim), Isidore Fernandes(Canacona),  Clafasio Dias(Cuncolim), Felipe Neri Rodrigues (Velim) Wilfred D’Sa (Nuvem), Nilkant Halarnkar( Thivim) Francisco Silveira ( St Andre) and Tony Fernandes (St Cruz) joined the party in the name of development. 
While Kavlekar is appointed as Deputy Chief Minister, Jennifer and Rodrigues are ministers. 
Chodankar also informed that the disqualification petition filed against 10 former Congress MLAs before Speaker of State Legislative assembly Rajesh Patnekar will come up for hearing on October 15.
