PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) office bearers on Tuesday met to discuss preparations for the upcoming visit of INC president Rahul Gandhi to Goa. Gandhi is slated to visit Goa this month-end to address booth workers.
GPCC chief spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar said it was decided to finalise the booth-level and ward-level committees by January 20 and to start preparations for the by-elections in Mandrem and Shiroda constituencies that are due next month.
He said that preparation for Gandhi’s visit when he will address Congress ward and booth presidents were also discussed.
The meeting, attended by AICC secretary and Goa desk in charge Dr Chellakumar and GPCC president Girish Chodankar, reviewed preparations for the by-elections and parliamentary elections. The Jan Sampark house to house visit programme was also finalised and it was decided to aggressively launch the Shakti programme.
At the start of the meeting, the office bearers congratulated Archbishop of Goa Filipe Neri Ferrao on his election as President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India.
