MARGAO: The State Convenor of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Minority Cell Riyaz Shaikh tendered his resignation from the post, on Tuesday.
Shaikh cited and seconded the reasons of former Congress minorities’ leader Urfan Mulla’s claim that the party has used the minorities for their benefits. He has quit from primary membership of the party.
“I would like to thank you for giving me an opportunity to serve the Congress Party and I have taken this decision since our Congress Minority leader and former GPCC Minority Cell Chairman Urfan Mulla has stepped down from the post. We minorities were being used without getting any benefits. Without my leader, it won’t be possible for me to work for the party,” said Riyaz.
Some weeks ago the Congress Minority Cell Chairman Urfan Mulla quit the Congress and joined the BJP. He went on to challenge the Margao MLA of showing what he did for the minorities in Margao.
