GPSC says CBRT for JSO post after colleges reopen

PANJIM: The Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) has said that a fresh date for Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) for the post of Junior Scale Officer (JSO) will be announced once the educational institutes reopen.

The GPSC had postponed and rescheduled the exam for an indefinite period in view of COVID-19 pandemic. “All examinations of the GPSC are held in various colleges in Goa and since all colleges continue to remain closed fresh dates can only be decided once the lockdown is eased and colleges are allowed to reopen,” GPSC Chairman Jose Manuel Noronha informed Herald.

Nonetheless, the candidates have been advised by the Commission to utilise the current period to thoroughly prepare for the CBRT. “All the civil service aspirants should make the best use of this time to prepare for the exam by reading all the relevant books and practicing by solving old papers. The Commission website contains all relevant information required by the candidates,” Noronha said.

The Commission had released an advertisement for filling up 22 positions of JSO of Goa Civil Service on January 10; and received 3635 applications for the post, out of which 3580 were eligible to answer CBRT. The 22 posts consist of 15 reserved for General category, five OBC, one SC and one Person with Disability (hearing impaired). The bulk vacancies came at a time when the Commission is unable to find suitable candidates. Eleven posts originally advertised in the first quarter of 2017 has so far witnessed three attempts of recruitment despite which two posts are still vacant.

Due to the ongoing crisis, the Commission has also not been able to conduct interviews for direct recruitment to the various posts advertised.
