mapusa: Grace De Souza, wife of former Goa Chief Minister (late) Dr Wilfred De Souza passed away early Friday morning, January 15, at a private hospital, here. She was 81.
Grace was unwell for more than a month and was admitted at Remanso Hospital for the last four days where she breathed her last. Her last rites were performed on the same day at the Mae de Deus Church, Saligao in the presence of close family members and friends.
“With profound grief and sorrow, I would like to inform, Grace, wife of former Chief Minister (late) Dr Wilfred De Souza and a lady of exceptional qualities, succumbed to her illness this morning. She devoted a lot of time to social work, having been the president of The National Association of the Blind, contributed immensely to their welfare. She was also awarded the Order of the British Empire, for rendering honorary services to the British High Commission in India. May her soul rest in peace,” Tulio De Sousa, son-in-law, conveyed the message.
