PANJIM: The two `Gram Nyayalayas’ established in both the districts to ensure speedy justice to the people in remote areas will be made functional once the judges are appointed by the High Court, said Law Minister Nilesh Cabral.
Cabral on Wednesday said the government had already sanctioned required staff for the proposed two `Gram Nyayalayas’ to be set up at Valpoi and Sanguem. The government had also purchased the mobile bus and acquired premises for the `Gram Nyayalaya’ at Valpoi while, the process is on to acquire premises and the mobile bus for the ‘Gram Nyayalaya’ at Sanguem.
“I have written to the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court to appoint Civil Judge Junior Division and Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) called as `Nyayadhikari’ for each ‘Gram Nyayalaya,” he said adding that once they are appointed, both the `Gram Nyayalayas’ would be made functional.
The ‘Gram Nyayalayas’ at Valpoi will cover the areas of the Sattari taluka while, ‘Gram Nyayalaya’ at Sanguem will cover the areas of the Sanguem taluka, he added.
Cabral said following directives by the Supreme Court to all the States to establish `Gram Nyayalayas’ in their respective States, the Goa government issued notification for establishing ‘Gram Nyayalayas.’
In fact the decision to establish two ‘Gram Nyayalayas’ in Goa was taken way back in 2012 so as to provide speedy, inexpensive and substantial justice to the people at the grassroot level and at their doorsteps. Another reason was to ensure that opportunities for securing justice were not denied to people by reason of social economic or other disabilities and the matters connected therewith on incidental thereto.
