Gramin Mitra to deliver government services to doorsteps of citizens

PANJIM: Citizens in the State can now avail the Gramin Mitra schemes services by dialling the helpline number 14471 to avail government services at their doorsteps from 8 am to 8 pm on all days.

Giving details of Gramin Mitra scheme, Director of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Suneel Anchipaka, IAS on Friday said that the objective of Gramin Mitra is how to deliver the government services to the doorsteps of citizens. The government will reach out to all villages across the State and Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) will coordinate with the Swayampurna Mitras in the villages to provide citizen centric services in digital mode and make the State digital. 

According to Anchipaka, so far as many as 179 services across 27 departments have been provided through Citizen Service Centres and Village-Level. By just calling on helpline number 14471,Grahmin Mitra will visit the residence of the citizen and will do the needful to complete the procedure to obtain any services such as residence certificate etc. 

Anchipaka said that since the signing of MoU with the Common Services Centres (CSC), a special purpose vehicle (SPV) on August 14, the call centre received 187 calls seeking enquiries of government services and so far four services including three residential certificates and one cash certificate have been provided to citizens at their doorsteps. 

Meanwhile, Minister of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Rohan Khaunte on Saturday interacted with the beneficiaries and Gramin Mitras across the State via video conferencing to applaud the successful beginning of the Gramin Mitra Scheme. 

Khaunte said that till now over eight beneficiaries have received the government services at their doorstep. These beneficiaries along with the Gramin Mitras expressed their gratitude to the State government for introducing the scheme. The Minister said this programme also aims to provide employment opportunities for the citizens of Goa and empower the women to be independent. In the first phase, there are over 116 male Gramin Mitras and 55 women Gramin Mitras mapped across all the village panchayat and municipalities.
