The security guards pointed though there are vacancies and despite the assurances given by the Human Resources Development to fill these up the same, members of the society are jobless.
Archana Naik, a worker, said that, three months ago, they had withdrawn their strike on the assurance of the chairman of Goa Recruitment and Employment Society (GRES) that their arrears would be paid to them within 15 days from then. Besides, Minister Dayanand Mandrekar and MLA Naresh Sawal also had assured them jobs though HRD, but till date nothing has been done, she lamented.
The workers were angry that despite knowing well that they were at his office to meet him, the GRES chairman deliberately avoided meeting them.
The workers have served an eight-day deadline on GRES to meet all their demands, failing which they have threatened to go on an indefinite strike.
