GSAI questions govt over stoppage of seafarers pension scheme

MARGAO: Goa Seamen Association of India (GSAI) has questioned the State government as to why the Goa Seafarer’s welfare pension scheme had been stopped. They met the Director of NRI Affairs taking up the grievance of retired seafarers.

“On behalf of the public, GSAI has been constantly following up regarding the Goa seafarer’s welfare pension scheme which was temporarily stopped in December 2021 for the reason best known to them. The scheme which is valid up to November 2022 needs to be streamlined without putting any burden on the beneficiaries and by also considering new applicants,” said GSAI
