MARGAO: Goans for Sustainable Development will hold a public meeting on the Regional Plan 2021 (RP21) at Lohia Maidan on April 22 at 3.30 pm.
As part of the meeting, GSD will hold a presentation “that offers an all-Goa perspective highlighting the many implications and serious consequences of the RP on the environment and lives of Goa and Goans. GSD has invited all MLAs, Zilla Panchayat members, panchayats and citizens to attend the same.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Ramchandra Zalmi of GSD said, “Goans and all other stakeholders should be aware that the RP21, which has been prepared without any data or safeguards, will have severe and widespread ramifications on the ecology, environment, lives and identity of Goans across the State. Hence, it is essential that all Goans who love Goa should attend the public meet in large numbers.”
He further said, “The people will get a clear understanding of the problems involved, and the opportunity to raise their voices and demand the formulation of an equitable, environment-friendly, RP based on authentic data, which safeguards the ecology and environment and takes into consideration the rights and needs of all sections of the community.”
Fr Eremito Rebello added, “Not just the MLAs and the bureaucracy, but candidates who desire to contest elections should also join us at the meet as we will show how Goa will be destroyed if the plan goes through.”
