PANJIM: The Goa State Expert Appraisal Committee (GSEAC) of the State Environment Department, has directed the Union Ministry for Ayush to prepare a detailed inventory of various sensitive features and sites around the proposed All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) at Dhargal in Pernem taluka.

The GSEAC during its recent meeting decided to recommend the project for Terms of Reference (ToR) for the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) while imposing several conditions.

One among it was that an inventory of various features such as sensitive and fragile areas, mining and industrial areas, water bodies, major roads, etc be prepared and furnished with the EIA.

An inventory of flora and fauna based on actual ground survey has to be also prepared.

The GSEAC clarified that the grant of TOR does not mean that Environment Clearance (EC) is granted for the project.

The TOR will be valid for a period of three years for preparation and submission of EIA and Environment Management Plan (EMP) report.

The foundation stone for the 250-bed All India Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy was laid in December 2018.

The Rs 270 crore projected is expected to be completed within 24 months, from the time the foundation stone was laid.

The Ayush Ministry has signed a construction agreement with M/s NBCC (India) Ltd to

complete the project.

Spread over 50 acres, the institute will also cater to over 500 students every year offering UG, PG and PhD degrees.
