PANJIM: Finally it proved that the State government’s decision of keeping industries, construction and agricultural activities going during the State-wide curfew was the right decision. As Goa Industrial State Association (GSIA) had suggested exactly a month ago that these activities are the backbone of our economy, said the GSIA President Damodak Kochkar.
The GSIA President said that “To support the Chief Minister’s decision industry will take utmost care to see that COVID cases do not rise by keeping our factories open. I am extremely happy to inform you all that during last couple of days not a single COVID positive case was reported by keeping industries running and have also helped in curbing further job losses and migrant labourers woes.”
He added that most importantly major corporate and industries in the State supported the State government during this pandemic by partnering in building infrastructural facilities at hospitals, arranging necessary equipment and medicines.
“Now industry is also supporting the government’s vaccination drive and as I had said earlier all of us need to work in tandem to overcome this pandemic at the earliest. I also feel that traders and other businesses which are shut presently who are incurring huge financial loses has to come up with proper SOP and plans to operate their business in this times and put forth proposal to the government through their associations so that lives and livelihoods both are protected simultaneously,” stated GSIA President Kochkar in a press release.
