GSIDC announces 10-day road closure for bridge construction at Oddar-Xelvona

CURCHOREM: The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) has issued a notice announcing the closure of the main road from Oddar-Xelvona leading to Curchorem market for a period of 10 days. The closure is scheduled from December 5 to December 15, during which the road from St Sebastian Chapel, Oddar, up to the Curchorem Fire Station will be inaccessible. The closure is necessary for the laying of the spandrel for the second lane of the four-lane new bridge over the river at Oddar, which is currently under construction.

During the 10-day closure, commuters traveling on this route will need to take an alternative route, adding more than four kilometres to their journey. The detour will be via Kakumoddi or Tilamol villages to reach Curchorem.

The four-lane bridge project at Oddar is being executed in two phases, at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore. The first phase, inaugurated in June this year by local MLA Nilesh Cabral, utilised prefabricated span technology and was completed within 15 months. The GSIDC aims to complete the second phase by December.
