GSIDC to fast track Panjim projects

PANJIM: Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) on Tuesday laid the foundation stones for the refurbishment of the existing pedestrian bridge over the Ourem creek as well as for the beautification and upgradation of Azad Maidan Square.

“Our priority is renovation of the pedestrian bridge which is in a dilapidated condition. This renovation project will approximately cost around Rs 1.05 crore,” GSIDC Chairman Pramod Sawant said.
“We will also be taking up renovation of the Azad Maida Square. These two projects come under the AMRUT project. The Azad Maidan square will be developed with modern amenities and will have toilet facility, green grass and lighting and it will be completed in the next eight months,” he added
Sawant was also anguished as the third Mandovi Bridge could not to be completed due to cases by Goa Foundation.
GSIDC Vice Chairman Siddharth Kuncalienkar, speaking to the media said, “Seven projects have been selected under the AMRUT Smart City Mission. We have laid the foundation stone for two projects under the AMRUT scheme and the projects will commence today. We will fast track these projects.”
On the BRICS Summit, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said, “The ongoing rains had hampered the progress, but for now everything will be in place  to host the Summit.”
