PANJIM: The Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) has come down heavily on the political parties for stooping to a new low in the wake of legislators and some office bearers switching parties. The regional outfit has also decided to contest the Lok Sabha (LS) polls, for which candidates will be announced on March 31. It had earlierdeclared its plans to contest the Assembly by-polls in Shiroda, Mandrem and Mapusa.
“People are frustrated and fed up with the manner in which the politics in Goa is currently functioning. Leaders are resigning from their party and joining another party, only because they have been denied tickets. These unfaithful candidates are even welcomed by their new party. We are certain that people do not want such traitors and will vote them out of power,” GSM President Subhash Velingkar. He also slammed the BJP for going to any extent to remain in power and resorting to bargaining tactics to poach the legislators into its party.
He urged people to not vote for candidates and parties who had betrayed the voters. Claiming it would give clean governance to the people, GSM is fielding its candidates in the North and South district in the upcoming LS polls.
