PANJIM: After initially deciding to form an alliance with MGP for the forthcoming 2017 elections, the Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) now wants to be “extra cautious” before taking the fine call to ally with the regional party.
The party, which is yet to be registered by the election commission, will hold final round of talks with MGP on alliance on Friday.
“The MGP was earlier an ally of the Congress and later joined hands with the BJP. We are in talks with the party… It is still an ally of the BJP,” RSS rebel group leader Subhash Velignkar, who backs GSM, said.
Responding to a question on presence of MLA Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar at the reception hosted by Archbishop, GSM justified saying, “We are not interested in where he goes or what he does…we are giving importance on the fact that we share same ideology.”
While criticizing the BJP of stooping low by inducting former congressmen Mauvin Godinho and Pandurang Madkaikar in the party fold, Velingkar offered three BJP leaders – Rajendra Arlekar, Vishnu Surya Wagh and MP Shripad Naik to join the GSM.
“When the three (BJP leaders) can speak against its own party on the Medium of Instruction, they can quit to join BBSM or GSM. Just expressing discontent is not enough,” he commented.
