MAPUSA: Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) declared Architect Nandan Sawant as its candidate for Mapusa by-polls at the party office at Mapusa on Friday.
On the occasion, the party informed that Swaroop Naik and Santosh Satarkar would be fielded from Mandrem and Shiroda, respectively.
The GSM leader Subhash Velingkar stated that Nandan Sawant is famous for doing temple architecture in Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Besides being an Architect, Nandan has also taken part in a lot of social activities and several protests where the party is involved. “We feel that the assembly will be heading for dissolution; we are quite sure that the government will not complete three years. While selecting candidates, we won’t look at someone who has a lot of money, but it has to be based on the party cadre. GSM will sit in the opposition if our party candidates win the by-polls,” Velingkar said.
“We are not here to make money or give our voters money or spend on drinks and take the youth to bad vices like other parties. We are ready to field a good candidate with a clean background adhering to party philosophy and ideology,” he added.
GSM is likely to declare its Lok Sabha candidates on March 19.
