OLD GOA: Acting on a complaint by residents of Kumbarvaddy-Merces against two housing societies over the release of sewage water into low-lying areas, Goa State Pollution Control Board officials inspected two housing societies on Tuesday to ascertain facts.
Senior Laboratory Assistant Sajid Inamdar and Engineering Assistant Sebastiao Barretto of the GSPCB accompanied by the villagers inspected the area where it was noticed that the two housing societies had connected PVC pipelines to release sewage water into a low-lying area.
With the help of villagers, the officials later collected samples of the sewage water which will be taken to the laboratory for testing.
The officials then inspected the premises of one of the housing societies wherein it was noticed that there was a network of pipelines used to release sewage directly into the low-lying area.
