CUNCOLIM: Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) officials on Tuesday inspected the Cuncolim Industrial estate following complaints from locals that industrial waste had been dumped outside the estate in a private property.
It may be recalled that the locals had complained of industrial and medical waste being dumped outside the estate in an open space.
The locals had complained to local MLA Clafasio Dias that the toxic and medical waste had caused cattle deaths after consuming the waste.
MLA Dias has raised the issue during the Assembly Session. Taking cognisance of the MLA’s complaint, the  officers visited the estate and inspected the waste. The officers have not ruled out the possibility of the said waste of being toxic or hazardous. They have collected some samples for testing.
It is learnt that some factory owners have purchased huge private land to dump the waste. Cuncolim Municipal Council has issued NOC to industries only to dump the non-hazardous waste.
