GSPCB nod for Goa Carbon may be revoked: CM

PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that consent given by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to the Goa Carbon Limited at San Jose de Areal in Velim constituency will be revoked if they failed to bring the pollution under control.

PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that consent given by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to the Goa Carbon Limited at San Jose de Areal in Velim constituency will be revoked if they failed to bring the pollution under control.
He was replying to the zero hour mention by the Velim MLA Filipe Neri Rodrigues.
Rodrigues brought to the notice of the House that the dust pollution is being faced by the residents of San Jose de Areal for past many decades. They are apprehensive whether their elected representative will be able to solve this issue.
Parrikar said that as per GSPCB report lot of steps have been taken to control the pollution in the village. “If want we will close the plant, but tomorrow people should not complain of unemployment”, he said.
Chief Minister further said that sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide is under control whereas they have been asked to control the further pollution which was exceeding as per the GSPCB. He said that pollution is being checked at the three locations in the village.
