Ponda: Officials from the Goa State Pollution Control Board collected samples from the rivulet at Mestwada, Curti after aquatic life including fish was found dead due to the release of hazardous chemical waste from factories located at Bethora Industrial Estate.
A team led by Saish Haldankar collected samples from Bethora junction till Sungrace Garden which is half a kilometre away.
Locals stated that they had been complaining about the pollution for the last 14 years but lamented that all their pleas fell on deaf ears.
“I myself had complained to the GSPCB last year but no action was taken till date,” stated sarpanch Harish Naik.
