CALANGUTE: The Goa Su-Raj Party (GSRP) kicked off its ‘This is Goa! Respect It!’ campaign at Candolim, when a team of GSRP volunteers approached several bare-chested tourists and requested them to respect the sentiments of Goans.
“Several Russian and some British tourists were approached and presented with T-shirts and were requested to wear it and to keep in mind that while it is accepted to be bare-chested on the beach, it is seen as indecency when it comes to urban areas,” said GSRP General Secretary Floriano Lobo in a press note.
In a matter of two-hours of interacting with the tourists, 50 T-shirts were distributed along the Candolim street near Newtons.
“It’s nice when tourists understand and respect our culture. Some appreciated our initiative, while some like a unruly tourist above 60 years thought that we should not impose such demands on tourists and that they should be left alone to roam free as and how they liked,” said Savio Rodrigues, Secretary & President (Youth Affairs).
