MARGAO: The Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) has issued the work order for the beautification of Lohia Maidan.
It may be recalled that the Goa Forward Party (GFP) in Assembly had pulled up the government and the agencies for delaying the work.
The work order and letter for commencement of work for the beautification of Lohia Maidan has been issued. The item rate tender for the work mentioned above has been accepted by GSUDA at the negotiated tender amount of Rs 2,16,81,655 (Rupees two crore sixteen lakh eighty-one thousand six hundred and fifty-five only) excluding GST which is 4.40% above the estimated cost of Rs 2,07,68,670.00 put to tender.
A performance security/guarantee of Rs 10,84,083 (Rupees ten lakh eighty-four thousand and eighty-three only) within 10 days of issue of the letter has been asked to be furnished. The time allowed for carrying out the work as entered in the tender is 365 days (including monsoon) from the date of commencement of work. The stipulated date of commencement is February 11, 2021 and stipulated date of completion is February 10, 2022.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, who was the Deputy Chief Minister in the erstwhile Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar’s government, had planned for the renovation and beautification of the historic Lohia Maidan in Margao. He has termed this as a victory of GFP’s efforts.
