GTDC defends allegations made before Lokayukta

PANJIM: Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has strongly denied all the allegations made by the activist Sudip Tamhankar before the Goa Lokayukta. GTDC has alleged that the petitioner has no knowledge of the operation of the app and that the allegations are unsubstantiated at the behest of misguided lobby.

GTDC while defending Frotamiles, promoter of GoaMiles said that the taxi services are  transparent and legal by all means. “The allegations that the services are being run illegally are baseless, arbitrary and with a sole purpose of misleading the locals and tourists and to tarnish the image of Goa Tourism and its officials. As directed, we will file the required affidavit along with the facts before the Lokayukta as per the allotted timelines,” GTDC stated in a press note.

GTDC further stated that that the purpose of introducing the app based taxi system was to provide world class online taxi booking services which gives advantages to the customers and the govt including cashless payment, efficient tax collection, GPS-based tracking and passenger safety.

“Ever since its launch, Goa Tourism has observed that a section of taxi drivers who were not happy with the app taxi system have embarked on a mission to give a bad name to the taxi app,” said GTDC while defending the allegations.
